APPLICATIONS ARE INVITED FOR ADMISSION TO  Ph.D., M. TECH AND PG DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES – JULY 2013 BATCH

1.

INTRODUCTION

Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT), Deemed University (DU), contributes significantly in the sphere of Human Resources Development for the Defence Forces by way of imparting education and training on Defence Technology to the officers of Armed Forces, Scientists of the DRDO, Technical Officers of the Ordnance Factory Board, Directorate of Quality Assurance, Public Sector Undertakings, General Public and friendly foreign countries.  The University conducts Ph.D,  M.Tech and PG Diploma Programmes and offers a number of short-term courses.

Ph.D. PROGRAMMEDIAT offers admission to PhD in the frontier areas of Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Applied Physics, Applied Mathematics and Materials engineering.

Eligibility:       a.  55% marks or equivalent CGPA in M.E./M. Tech. for Ph.D. in Engineering:

Master of Science with 55% marks or equivalent CGPA for Ph.D. in Science.

  1. GATE Score / UGC-CSIR NET certificate.

Candidates who are in the final semester of their PG degree are eligible to apply; Mark sheet up to the last semester should be produced during interview. Provisional passing certificate and mark sheet of the final semester are required to be submitted before commencement of program.

Selection:       Admission to Ph.D. will be based on the performance in the entrance exam (written test) conducted by the department concerned followed by personal interview.

Scholarship:  Selected students will be eligible for scholarship as per MHRD guidelines.

B.E / B. Tech./ M.Sc or Equivalent in Metallurgy / Materials Science / Materials Engg / Mechanical Engineering / Ceramic Engg / Polymer Engg/ Nano- Technology /  M. Sc. Or Equivalent in Physics / Chemistry.

6. Lasers & Electro-optics

Masters degree or equivalent in Physics/Applied Physics / Electronics / Electronic Science or a B.E. / B.Tech. / B.Sc. (Engineering) degree or equivalent in Electronics / Electrical/ Communication / Telecommunication / Electronics and Communication Engineering / Engineering Physics, M.Sc. in Computer Science with Physics and Mathematics at graduate level.

7. Modeling and Simulation

M.Sc. in Mathematics / Physics / Statistics /Computer Science (Provided mathematics is one of the subject at the graduate level), Bachelors Degree in Engineering / Technology. Proficiency in computer programming is essential.

8. Chemical Science & Technology M.Sc in any branch of Chemistry of BE/B.Tech in Chemical Engg or BE/ B.Tech (Polymer) or equivalent degree.
9. PG Diploma in Bio Science & Technology M.Sc in Life Sciences and Physical Sciences / BE or B.Tech in any branch of Engineering or B.Sc degree with minimum 2 years of research experience in R&D institutions.

Candidates with AMIE/ Aero Society degree with 60% marks or equivalent CGPA also are eligible

 

Eligibility:  

a.Qualification: 55% marks or 5.5 CGPA in the qualifying examination as indicated against the disciplines concerned and valid GATE Score / UGC-CSIR NET Certificate (GATE Score / UGC/CSIR NET certificate is not required for PG Diploma in Bio-Science & Technology).  The qualification should have been obtained from a recognized (by UGC) University / Deemed University / Institution in India.  The candidates who are in the final semester of their degree are eligible to apply; Mark sheet up to the last semester should be enclosed. Provisional certificate in such cases along with Mark sheet   of the final semester are required to be submitted before commencement of program.

b. Age limit:        Not more than 26 years as on July 1, 2013.

Relaxations as per GOI rules apply to SC / ST / OBC / PH applicants.

Scholarship: As per MHRD/AICTE guidelines [Rs.8000/- per month at present]           .

For PG Diploma students, there is no scholarship available as of now.  However, efforts are being made to offer some scholarship.

GENERAL

4.  BOARDING / LODGING

Selected candidates will be provided accommodation and mess facilities on payment basis and it is mandatory that they stay in the Institute campus.  The present monthly charge towards boarding and lodging is ~Rs.6000/- (subject to revision).

5.         HOW TO APPLY

Candidates have to apply online on the website, www.diatonline.co.in. Application fee of Rs.200/- (100/- for SC/ST candidates) per programme is required to be paid byDD drawn in favour of Vice Chancellor, DIAT, Pune, payable at Pune. The application has to be uploaded as per the instructions provided in the website, www.diatonline.co.in.A print out of the application acknowledgement generated by the system after upload of application has to be forwarded to the Deputy Registrar (Academics), Defence Institute of Advance Technology, Pune 411 025 along with the DD drawn and with the self certified copies of mark lists, certificates and other testimonials. These documents should reach us latest by 12 May 2013. Application will be processed only on receipt of the acknowledgement with DD. Also, candidates have to bring a print out of the application acknowledgement along with proof of payment, at the time of test / interview.

6.  COURSE FEE AND OTHER CHARGES.

Selected candidates for the PhD/ M.Tech programs/PG Diploma program are required to pay Semester Fee @Rs.5000/- per semester (subject to revision) payable immediately on joining and a caution deposit (refundable at the end of the Programme less dues if any) of Rs.10,000/-, payable in three monthly installments commencing from July 2013.
