General
Post Graduate Degree Courses in Engineering are being offered to the graduates in Engineering, in this College for awarding Masters Degree in the two branches by the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT). The course shall extent over a period of 24 months consisting of 4 semesters.

Reservation of seats (for admission through DTE)
- 5% Seats are reserved for candidates belonging to SEBC. Only candidates belonging to SEBC communities having annual income less than Rs 4.5 lakhs will be eligible for reservation under this category.
- 15% Seats are reserved for SC/ST Candidates.
- The seats reserved for each category will be distributed among the eligible communities by observing the pattern of general reservation rules of the state.
- 3% seats are reserved for physically handicapped candidates.
- 5% Seats are reserved for candidates belonging to SEBC. Only candidates belonging to SEBC communities having annual income less than Rs 4.5 lakhs will be eligible for reservation under this category.
Eligibility for admission
- The candidates shall be an Indian National.
- The candidates should have studied the Graduate course in an institution approved by the AICTE/Deemed Universities.
- Candidates should have a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in the Engineering Degree examination. For SC/ST candidates a pass in the Engineering Degree Examination is sufficient.
- Candidates, who have passed AMIE / AMIETE Examinations and satisfying the following conditions, are eligible for admission.
- They must have valid GATE score.
- A minimum of 55% marks for section B in AMIE/AMIETE examination.
- Minimum three years of Professional experience in the field of Specialization after acquiring the qualifying degree.
- Candidates who have appeared for the final semester examination can also apply, provided he/she has passed all the subjects up to and including the 6th semester exam. Selection of such candidates shall be subject to the production of qualifying degree -satisfying clauses V (a) to (d) as applicable on or before September 30, 2013.
- Admission shall normally be restricted to those with valid GATE score. However, this stipulation is relaxed in the case of Sponsored candidates.
- In case seats remain vacant due to lack of candidates with valid GATE score, candidates from Kerala State without valid GATE score will be considered against such vacancies. If seats are still remaining vacant, candidates from other states will be considered for admission.
- The candidates shall be an Indian National.
Submission of Applications
Applications should be filled online for both A &B categories of seats; logging on to the College website www.cemunnar.ac.in . The different entries in the application are to be filled with extreme care, as this information is used for preparing the rank list.
Category A:
A printout of the filled up application for the purpose should be taken by applicants seeking admission directly by the College and sent with copies of the following documents, to the Principal, College of Engineering Munnar P.B.No.45, County Hills, Munnar- 685612
- Engineering Degree certificate and Mark lists up to 8th semester Or
Course completion certificate and Mark lists up to 6th semester
- GATE Score card (for Candidates with valid GATE Score)
- Community and Income certificate issued by the village officer for candidates who claim admission under SEBC quota.
- Community certificate issued by the Tahsildar for candidates who claim eligibility for relaxation/ reservation under SC/ST quota.
- True copy of professional experience certificate from the Head of the organizations where the candidate is working in case of those who passed AMIE/AMIETE.
- Nativity Certificate issued by the Village Officer (for Non-GATE candidates).
- Sponsorship Certificate (if applicable).
Category B:
A printout of the filled up application for the purpose should be taken by applicants seeking admission through DTE in the College after submitting the application in the website www.cet.ac. in or www.dtekerala.gov .in as per the requirements in the site and sent the same to the Principal, College of Engineering Munnar P.B.No.45, County Hills, Munnar- 685612, for processing the admission in the College
- Engineering Degree certificate and Mark lists up to 8th semester Or
Selection of Candidates
For admission directly done by the College
- Selection of candidates will be based on the GATE score. In case of tie, advantage will be given to the candidates who secure highest aggregate marks up to 6th semester in their qualifying examination.
- If sufficient GATE qualified candidates are not available, the selection will be made from Keralite candidates based on the aggregate marks up to 6th semester in their qualifying examination. Candidates who have produced Nativity Certificate, at the time of application will only be considered for this.
- If seats are still remaining vacant, candidates from other states will be considered for admission, with preference to GATE candidates.
- Allotment list will be prepared and published in the College, as well as in the website, www.cemunnar.ac.in .
- Selected candidates have to remit the fee in the College on or before the last date; published in the College/ website.
- Transfer Certificate issued from the institutions last attended must be produced at the time of admission.
- The selection of Candidates will be provisional and subject to verification of original documents by the principal at the time of admission.
For admission done in the College through DTE
- Selection of candidates will be done from among the applications received under the category based on the RANK LIST obtained from DTE for the College based on the eligibility specified under (V).
- Allotment list will be prepared and published in the College, as well as in the website, www.cemunnar.ac.in .
- Selected candidates have to remit the fee in the College on or before the last date; published in the College/ website.
- Transfer Certificate issued from the institutions last attended must be produced at the time of admission.
- The selection of Candidates will be provisional and subject to verification of original documents by the principal at the time of admission.

Liquidated Damages
For admission directly done by the College
- The candidates who obtain admission in category A (Directly admitted in the College) and discontinue studies for taking admission in other Colleges, under DTE allotment are liable to pay Rs 30000/- (Rupees Thirty thousand only) till 16-08-2014. Candidates who wish to move under 1st and 2nd allotment of DTE are exempted from this payment.
- The candidates who obtain admission in category A (Directly admitted in the College) and discontinue studies for any other reason are liable to pay Rs.30000/- plus the tuition fee and special fee for the remaining period of the course as liquidated damages.
- All candidates leaving the institutions by cancelling the admission for taking admission under DTE allotment after 16-08-2014 are also liable to pay Rs.30000/- plus the tuition fee and special fee for the remaining period of the course as liquidated damages.
- In all such cases the Transfer Certificate will be issued only after remitting the liquidated damages to the College. Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OEC are exempted from this rule (a), (b) and (c) above
For admission done in the College through DTE.
- The candidates who obtain admission in in category B (Through the Rank List from DTE) and discontinue studies are liable to pay Rs 10000/- (Rupees Ten thousand only) till 16-08- 2014. Candidates who wish to move under 1st and 2nd allotment of DTE are exempted from this payment.
- All candidates leaving the institutions by cancelling the admission after 16-08-2014 will be liable to pay the tuition fee and special fee for the remaining period of the course as liquidated damages.
- All candidates leaving the institutions by cancelling the admission after 05.09.2013 will be liable to pay Rs.30000/- plus the tuition fee and special fee for the remaining period of the course as liquidated damages.
- In all such cases the Transfer Certificate will be issued only after remitting the liquidated damages to the College. Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OEC are exempted from this rule (a), (b) and (c) above
Spot Admission
A spot admission will be conducted for the vacant seats if any in the courses on the date in the schedule. Candidates selected for admission through spot admission will have to remit the fee on the date of spot admission itself and join the College.
Scholarship
- Scholarship is available for candidates with valid GATE Score at the rate of Rs.8000/- per month vide G.O. (Rt) No. 67/09/H.Edn dated: 19.01.09 for the total period of 24 months subject to the following conditions.
- Each student shall undertake 8 to 10 hours of work per week related to teaching and research activities as assigned by the institutions.
- The students must secure first class or equivalent during the first Semester examination to become eligible for continuance of scholarship.
- The student shall give an undertaking to the effect that he/she will not leave the course midway or appear for any competent Examination not related to Engineering and Technology.
- The students shall not receive any emoluments, salary, stipend etc from any other source during the course of study.
- In the case of candidates with valid GATE score but do not satisfy the condition (a) above, an amount of Rs.1000/- only will be given as scholarship.
- SC/ST/OEC/OBC students will be eligible for stipend as per Kerala State Government rules.
